ABOUT ME
My name is Amanda Smalfus and I am an aspiring anthropologist, scientist, and storyteller. I am a recent graduate of Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ, USA, with degrees in Cell Biology and Spanish. My podcast, Choques Culturales, is the culmination of my work with the Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights (CGHR) and the Rutgers University Spanish Department. My work focuses on cultural and linguistic conservation in the United States and abroad, and I am dedicated to the use of arts and emotion to teach cross-cultural understanding.

When I am not exploring culture and social justice, I enjoy running, cooking, backpacking, reading, dancing, learning new languages and traveling above all else!
Mi nombre es Amanda Smalfus y mi ambición es ser antropóloga, científica, y cuentacuentos. Acabo de graduarme de Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ, EUA con bachilleres en biología celular y español. Mi podcast, Choques Culturales, es la culminación de mi trabajo con el Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights (CGHR) y el departamento del español en Rutgers University. Mi trabajo se centra en la conservación cultural y lingüística en los Estados Unidos y el extranjero, y mi objetivo es usar las bellas artes y la emoción para enseñar y profundizar el entendimiento contra-cultural.

Cuando no estoy inmersa en asuntos culturales y relacionados con la justicia social, me gusta correr, cocinar, hacer excursiones, leer, bailar, aprender nuevos idiomas y, sobre todo, ¡viajar!
